Book Cover Illustration

‘She Didn’t Wave’

I was delighted to have been asked to produce an illustration for the cover of a book by Ian Mercer who has spent many years searching for the truth about his family’s past.  The story begins in 1920 when Ian’s mother was left at an orphanage at the age of 7 ….

Both Ian and myself are extremely pleased with the artwork and how it hints at the story behind the title.  A fascinating, true story of love and war.

Visit Banwell’s fire station where you will find both memorabilia and artwork under the same roof.   Students of my weekly art classes in Shipham and Bleadon will be showcasing their achievements by taking part in the North Somerset Arts Week biennial event.  The trustees of this historic building have kindly let us take over for ten days, when we will be serving tea and coffee to help raise funds for the station.

Gallery Show

Featured artist @ Church House Designs Gallery

Visit this delightful gallery and bespoke gift shop in Congresbury where you will find my monochromatic landscapes of the Mendip Hills on display on the main gallery wall.  When delivering my work for hanging I couldn’t resist one of the landscaped ceramics, which seem to complement my work very well.

My work will be on display throughout June so if you are passing through Congresbury  do take a left turn opposite the Ship & Castle pub to seek out the gallery. churchhousedesigns.co.uk

If you visit the Victoria Art Gallery between now and 12th May you will see my two latest graphite drawings of the Mendip Hills selected for the society’s 113th open exhibition.  I love being out in the landscape and there is something particularly promising about bare winter trees that are bathed in light. The strong contrast between light and dark very much appeals to me and the materials I use help me to convey this in my work.

This annual exhibition is well worth a visit for the variety and amount of work on display.  You will find paintings, drawings and printmaking alongside ceramics, collage and sculpture.
